A playground for your senses!
Look! Touch! Feel!
Throw yourself into Kentucky’s legendary Bluegrass Region! Sure, the scenery is spectacular and there are horses simply everywhere, but this is not a “look but don’t touch” destination: the Bluegrass is filled with experiences for every member of your family!
• Jump into the saddle and take the reins for an invigorating gallop–or a sedate trail ride–at one of the area’s many public stables!
• Thrill to 5,000 Civil War re-enactors in uniforms of blue and gray as they muster, march, and exchange musketfire.
• Rock back on your heels as cannons boom and gun smoke fills the air!
• Yell yourself hoarse–all for a horse and a $2 bet!
• Clap your hands, stomp your feet to the music of the Bluegrass – which runs the whole spectrum of Country, Pop, Rock & Roll, Gospel, Contemporary Christian, and naturally (5-string banjo solo here) ...Bluegrass!
• Taste unique regional cuisine – Bluegrass specialty dishes are available nowhere else on earth.
• Savor the Reds and Whites of the Bluegrass at our vineyards and wineries.
• Sip a nightcap of robust, aromatic, oak-aged bourbon, the perfect end to a fun-filled day, and a great way to experience the actual spirit of the Bluegrass. Above all, hold onto your heart, because you just might lose it to the beauty and charm of the Bluegrass!
Come play where the grass is always bluer: Our backyard!
The Bluegrass Region is a vast and engaging playground, whether you’re a spectator or participant. Our back roads, byways, stone bridges, scenic overlooks, paddocks, pastures and vineyards cause visitors to return year after year for another look at a setting that ranges from stirring to serene.
• Horses Everywhere! Saddle up at any of the area’s many riding stables. Visit the stars of racing at our famous horse farms. The Kentucky Horse Park is all about horses all of the time. Take off to the races at Keeneland Thoroughbred Racetrack and The Red Mile harness track.
• Play Ball - Pro sports fans can cheer the Legends baseball team and the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals at their training camp in Georgetown. College fans can enjoy sports practically all year ‘round, with the University of Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky University (Richmond), Georgetown College (Georgetown) and more.
• Fairways & Greens - Play new and classic courses, including two that have hosted Senior PGA events. Whether designed by Pete Dye, Rees Jones, or local architect Danny McQueen, they all capitalize on beautiful local terrain.
• Get Wet - At lakes and rivers in the Bluegrass, you can go fishing, skiing, power boating, canoeing and poking around in a pontoon boat, or just find a quiet spot on a bank and listen to the lapping of the water.
